Inter-State adoption refers to the adoption of children who were either born in or reside in, the continental United States. Catholic Charities will work with the adoptive family to create a home study. Then, the adoptive family and Catholic Charities will partner with a second agency of the family’s choosing who will match the family with a birthmother and place a child in the family’s home.  Catholic Charities will ensure you meet the State of Wisconsin requirements for adoption and will support you from the beginning stages of your adoption, through the adoption process and beyond post placement services.

When adopting through Catholic Charities Inter-State Program, costs, profiles of children and time-lines vary drastically depending on the type of agency used, how open the adoptive family is to different situations, and from state-to state. Catholic Charities will also assist you in finding a secondary agency that is ethical and licensed.
