MASK UPDATE - Mask Wearing Procedures at Catholic Charities

With the uptick in COVID variant D cases, Catholic Charities will follow the CDC guidelines on when and where to wear masks.

BEGINNING AUGUST 9, 2021

      • ALL unvaccinated staff and volunteers need to wear masks inside our facilities
      • ALL staff and volunteers, vaccinated or unvaccinated, working with clients need to wear masks
      • If staff or volunteer is vaccinated, while we highly encourage all staff to wear masks in common areas, it is not currently required.

It is the current recommendation of the CDC that everyone wears masks indoors when in counties with substantial or high community transmission rates. Currently, the CDC has ranked Eau Claire and Marathon counties at high risk. Clark, Crawford, and La Crosse are at substantial risk. This information is based on the number of reported cases in the last seven days and the percentage change. We hope the majority of the staff not working with clients will choose to wear masks in common areas until the CDC has lowered the risk levels in our counties. We will monitor changes in CDC reporting and change mask-wearing based on recommendations provided by the CDC. Our mask-wearing procedures will be reviewed weekly as the CDC weekly monitors and updates each county.

The reason that I enjoy coming to Catholic Charities is that everyone is very nice and friendly. We have a lot of activities inside and outside. We always learn, laugh, and have fun especially on Fridays when I get to go bowling.” ~ Tim M. (Participant)

My Daughter has been going to Catholic Charities Day Program in LaCrosse for 10 years. This is the place that teaches her to trust herself. This is the place that trusts her. Steve Burnette and his crew, Tiffany, Sabrina and all the rest have always treated Jess with love and care, and most importantly, with respect. Catholic Charities is where my daughter is most like herself. I hope she is able to be a part of this organization for the rest of her life.

We have been blessed with Catholic Charities' Adult Program for the past 13 years. During this time, we have seen first-hand how this program puts the participants first. Tim G. is a 33 year old autistic, non-verbal, intelligent man that came to our Adult Family Home with many challenging behaviors. We collaborated with Director Steve Burnette, who is very passionate about the Adult Program.

Over the years Steve and I have bounced techniques and ideas to enhance Tim G’s mental and physical growth. Steve has brought peace of mind to me and to Tim’s Family. We truly believe Tim is in the right day program in our area to best satisfy his needs. Relationships are built at Catholic Charities’ Adult Program because of the longevity of the staff, which is refreshing. Staff keeps communication open using a communication book and personally taking the time to discuss Tim’s day. This stimulating environment helps individuals to excel. We have seen a dramatic increase in Tim’s skills, especially conversational skills, social skills, and calming techniques. The staff not only engages Tim in activities that interest him, they have taken him to a new level. Staff discovered Tim is able to do Triangular division, greater/less then with shopping, and Sudoku.

Catholic Charities’ Adult Program is heaven sent. As Tim’s late dad would say, “Tim is as happy as a clam!”, which made his dad happy." ~ Stacey Parmenter (Stacey’s Adult Family Homes)
