Catholic Charities is looking to fill the position of Special Education Support Specialist. This position is part-time 15-25 hours per week. A support specialist provides direct support to students enrolled at Driftless Pass in the form of mentoring, behavior management support, and tutoring based on the IEP of the student. Support Specialists will also help teachers and paraprofessionals ensure and maintain a safe learning environment.
Drivers License, reliable transportation, and auto insurance required.
Rate: starting at $11.25 – 14.00 based on education and experience.
SKILL AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
a) Education-Bachelor’s Degree in human service fields such as psychology, education, social work, or recreation preferred.
b) Experience with persons with developmental disabilities preferred.
c) Knowledgeable of and competent with a variety of positive, proactive behavior management techniques.

g) Conducts self in a professional manner, without supervision in working with clients, parents, teachers and other professionals in the community.
h) Communicates with the coordinator as changes develop with students.
i) Provides transportation for students when necessary.
j) Other duties, as appropriate, and assigned by supervisor.
a) Must be prepared for physical interaction with students.
b) May spend 50%-75% of the day on feet or moving.
c) Ability to move quickly to prevent a student from leaving a designated area.
d) Must be comfortable using physical restraint upon receiving CPI training.
