Community Homeless Facilities
Catholic Charities provides overnight facilities for many poor, hurting, homeless and often “faceless” people in our communities. The La Crosse Warming Center, open November 1 – April 30, offers a warm space, coffee and soup for adults 18 and over who may have been turned away from other local programs due to capacity or eligibility issues. In Eau Claire, the Sojourner House provides a year-round, safe, clean place for adult men and women, regardless of what their ambitions or hopes are to sleep overnight, shower, clean their clothing and have a nutritious breakfast while ensuring our guest’s personal respect and safety. The Wausau Warming Center is modeled after the La Crosse Warming Center. It offers a clean, warm and safe environment for up to 25 adult men and women to spend the night, shower, wash clothes and enjoy a meal. Our Beyond Shelter Program utilizes the Housing First approach which involves moving long-term street homeless individuals directly into housing and then linking them to support services, either on-site or in the community.
