Under the supervision of the Domestic and International Adoption Coordinator, the Adoption Education and Training Specialist will provide education, training, and resources to pre-adoptive families. They will also provide trainings and coordinate events for the WI Adoption and Permanency Support Program.

The position is part time (20 hours per week), with starting wages being between $16.00-$18.50 per hour.

SKILL AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
a) Education – College degree in social work, human services, education, or related field.
b) Experience – Background in adoption, foster care or family services preferred.
c) Certification – Certified Social Worker in State of Wisconsin preferred.
d) Knowledge of adoption processes preferred.
e) Technical experience preferred.
f) Public speaking skills.
g) Ability to travel routinely throughout the state for required meetings, training and activities with overnights required.
h) Ability to travel occasionally out of state for meetings with NCFA and other pilot agencies.
i) Knowledge of community resources related to adoption.
j) Ability to maintain a flexible schedule of work hours (including evenings and weekends if necessary) to meet the needs of families served.
k) Knowledge and commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Plans and coordinates training and education for prospective adoptive parents.
b) Participation in planning, facilitating, presenting, and attending varying webinars.
c) Writes articles, tip sheets, and publications for prospective adoptive parents.
d) Develops relationships with other community organizations and agencies.
e) Coordinates with other Catholic Charities adoption staff to network with adoptive families and prospective adoptive families.
f) Represents Catholic Charities Family Services Program at various events.
g) Establishs and maintains effective relationships with clients, staff and persons in the community.
h) Works with diverse groups of people from various socioeconomic backgrounds in a nonjudgmental manner.
i) Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality.
j) Other duties as assigned.
