Gary Veltus
Hello, I just started my journey with Catholic Charities on December 5, 2022. Prior to joining your team I was employed by another non-profit for 7.5 years and worked in/helped implement numerous different State and Federal programs for low income individuals and families. My most recent position was the SCSEP or Senior Community Service Employment Program Coordinator that covered 8 counties and 78 individuals on a case load.
Before that I spent a couple of decades in Supervisory/Management roles in the Manufacturing sector, but always had the feeling that something was missing. When not at work I was very involved at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Neillsville where I reside, as well as other charitable entities that I enjoyed being involved with because they were a place to help others. What I came to find out was after much contemplation and prayer, I decided to leave the manufacturing world where I discovered my passion in being able to directly work with and help those in need. What a fulfilling experience! When the opportunity to join Catholic Charities came up, I was more than ready to jump on board and help with the recent Afghan population seeking to blend into our society. I look forward to the many challenges this position will have as well as continued growth with all of you.
I am married to my lovely wife Amy of over 17 years with 3 children. In my free time I like to head for the woods and hunt a bit or make firewood as we heat our home that way. It is work but relaxing in some strange way. I find it hard to sit still, so I am always on the move looking for that next project. I look forward to meeting all of you at some point in the near future!
