Paraprofessional

Our Driftless Pass Alternative Day School Program is seeking 2 full-time Paraprofessionals to work one-on-one with students aged 6 to 18 whose needs are difficult to meet in traditional public schools.  The role of the Paraprofessional is to support staff and participants in daily functions using a variety of positive, proactive behavior management techniques.

Skills & Qualifications needed are: Bachelor’s degree in human services field such as psychology, education, or social work is desired. At least 2 years working in an agency addressing the needs of persons with disabilities desired.

Job Responsibilities:

A. Attends to the condition of day school to assure safety of all individuals.
B. Support staff and participants in all aspects of daily functions.
C. Handles on-site issues and acts as emergency back-up to specialists to provide direct service to participants as needed.
D. Backup for Day School Coordinator
E. Supports daily operations by working with program staff to maintain equipment and supplies.
F. Handles credit card and receipts when shopping for the school program.
G. Maintains accurate, complete, and confidential participant case files.
H. Handles reporting requirements within Catholic Charities (i.e. Incident/Accident) and for contracted agencies.
I. Uses a variety of positive, proactive behavior management techniques.
J. Conducts self in professional manner in working with participants, parents, teachers and other
professionals in the community.
K. Demonstrates a working knowledge of Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
L. Helps develop and update Disability Services program policies and procedures.
M. Uploads student in-take paperwork at beginning of the school year and for Summer Programming.
N. Other duties, as appropriate, and assigned by supervisor.
