Success comes in many different avenues and this is what I like about working in the Disability Services program. I love to see each child make gains no matter how big or small it is for them. I started full-time at Catholic Charities in August of 2010 as a Classroom Support Specialist, but worked 2 summers with Summer Programming prior to this. Currently I am the Elementary Special Education Teacher and learn right along with my students on a daily basis. All my life I have worked with individuals with special needs. This has helped me develop a deeper understanding of these individuals.
My first job after I graduated with a Degree in Recreation Leadership was teaching Marine and Environmental education to school students at an environmental education camp in Georgia for 5 años. Following this experience, I worked several summers plus 3 years at a camp in Iowa for individuals with special needs. I have 12 years of work experience as a Special Education Paraprofessional in Iowa. After returning to Wisconsin, I worked for the School District of La Crosse for 2 años. Each job had its challenges, but from each challenge I grew as a person and will continue to do so at Catholic Charities.
