Adoption Testimonials

Our family is pursuing adoption of two older children from China. Our placing agency is located in Colorado and Catholic Charities of La Crosse was one of the agencies that they listed as acceptable for our home study. From day one, Catholic Charities was the best fit for us! I emailed all four agencies that were within driving distance of our home. Rhea Newman was the first social worker to respond and did so with such warmth and enthusiasm that the decision to choose Catholic Charities was easy.

Throughout our home study, Rhea was kind, caring and very professional. Paperwork was completed in a timely and efficient fashion. We always knew where we were at in the process. Rhea made us feel comfortable and supported throughout. After our home study was submitted and approved at the state level as well as with the Chinese consulate, USCIS asked Rhea to reword one section. This happened to occur as she was leaving the office for a few days for a conference. She did everything in her power to make the changes as quickly as she could (even taking time away from her conference) in order to not have our timeline greatly impacted. We were so grateful and would recommend Catholic Charities of La Crosse, particularly Rhea Newman, to any family pursuing adoption!

Working with Catholic Charities has been wonderful! We are just about to send our dossier off, so we haven’t finished our process yet, but have had smooth sailing thus far. We worked with Rhea for our home study and she was always helpful, understanding and a pleasure to spend time with! Meeting with Rhea was always easy and convenient as she was willing to meet us at our house. We have seven children in our home, so it was really nice that she made the trip out to our farm several times. As we began our process to adopt, we were unsure of exactly how we felt about our choice. We decided to take the leap and just go for it. After being “in the process” for awhile now, we realize just how “right” this decision feels to us. We look forward to bringing our child home and meeting with Rhea again! This process has opened up our eyes to the bigger picture in our world.  There are so many children who are in need of a loving family and we have taken on a role of not only adopting, but helping show other families the need as well. We hope that we can inspire another family to take that same leap of faith! We will absolutely encourage other families who are considering adoption to check out Catholic Charities!
