Catholic Charities of the Diocese of La Crosse has one part-time opening (28 hrs/week) for an Adoption Social Worker in the Wausau area. Responsibilities include conducting adoptive home studies and informational sessions, foster care licensing, parent education, supervising the placement of children, providing post-adoption services and support, and guidance to birth parents.

Candidates must possess a BSW and three years’ experience in the human services field. Prior adoption experience and Master’s Degree in related field preferred. Exceptional organizational skills and WI Social Work license required.

SKILL AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
a) Education-College degree in social work, human services, education, or related field.
b) Certification–Certified Social Worker in the State of Wisconsin.
c) Experience-2 years working in adoption, foster care, or family services.
d) Experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse range of clients, staff, and individuals in the community.
e) Knowledge of adoption processes and child welfare practices.
f) Knowledge of confidentiality and best practices related to maintaining confidentiality.
g) Technical experience preferred.
h) Knowledge and commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Completes family home studies.
b) Performs case management duties in accordance with the Wisconsin Standards of Practice.
c) Completes all necessary documentation and maintains client files.
d) Licenses foster care homes as needed.
e) Supervises foster care placement of infants.
f) Coordinates with other professionals involved in the child’s care.
g) Provides education and resources to adoptive families.
h) Provides support to families waiting to adopt.
i) Facilitates a child’s placement with an adoptive family.
j) Provides support to families after adoption occurs and provides post-adoption follow-up services as needed.
k) Prepare child background checks as needed.
l) Schedules sessions with expectant parent(s) to review options, teach decision-making skills, meet individual birth parent needs, and refer them to community resources as needed.
m) Provides ongoing support to expectant parent(s) regardless of the decision regarding the child.
n) Prepares expectant parent(s) and adoptive families for Termination of Parental Rights court process.
o) Participates in WI Adoption & Permanency Support Center activities and projects as assigned.
p) Participates and provides marketing of the adoption and pregnancy support programs.
q) Participates in related adoption training and attends related meetings.
r) Provides post-placement services and finalization
s) Assist in the marketing and development of social media for the program.
t) Other duties as assigned.

Rate: $16.00-$22.25/hour based on education and experience.
