Richard SageAlleluia! We continue in the Easter season rejoicing in the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus. Finally, spring has arrived and the countryside is greening-up, the trees have unfurled their leaves, graduation parties are popping up like dandelions, and we’re preparing for the long Memorial Day holiday weekend.

At Catholic Charities we’ve been engaged in many new initiatives – a new collaborative outreach service in Chippewa Falls, exploring transitional housing options in Wausau and a new Warming Center in La Crosse. Even though it is still Easter and spring is a time of celebrating new life, we know the struggles that so many people continue to face. Easter gives all of us hope, encouragement and perseverance to continue to witness to our faith in the Risen Lord and to try to do our very best to help lift people out of the poverty of despair.

As we prepare to celebrate Memorial Day, may we be especially mindful of the men and women who have served our country so faithfully. We pray for those who gave their lives in service and those who still suffer from the various scars of their experiences. May all our veterans be blessed for their service to others.

From all of us at Catholic Charities, may you enjoy a restful, safe and blessed holiday weekend!
